12 notes, endless possibilities. Music is a language that transcends the linguistic boundaries of self-expression. It is the single source of intrinsic human connection and communication across all cultures. The unrestrained exploration of this art fuels the fire behind Kennedy 7.
Drawing influences from the likes of Ray Charles, Amy Winehouse, and Queen, to Marianas Trench, Green Day, Bruno Mars, and pretty much everything in between, the Kennedy 7 sound incorporates a combination of Jazz, Rock and Pop infused with the theatrics of Broadway.
The concept album is an idea the guys have always been passionate about, so why not pursue it for the debut record? The notion that an album can be so much more than just a pile of songs is much more interesting than just listening to a playlist. Being connected to a story musically and lyrically is what entices us within a song anyway, so why not apply that concept to a full-length album? Why not have each song on the record be a chapter in the overarching story of the album? It's more than just music, it's an adventure, a journey that will take you through our experiences, and might just teach you a little bit about your own.
So let's meet the guys.
Where to begin? Music has always been a passion buried deep within, but began to fully blossom during his senior year in high school. Manny is a one of a kind character who is never afraid to speak his mind, or sing aloud no matter where or who he is with. He's the kind of guy who will drink all of your Yops, eat all of your brownies (that your mother baked especially for you), and crush that entire carton of milk sitting in your fridge door. This type of extravagant personality clearly shines through in his bold, underlined AND italicized vocal style. Aside from vocals, Manny is a self-taught pianist, trombonist, and guitar player. After years of practice, it is safe to say that Manny has established himself among the elite singers of our time, and this is only the beginning.
I dare you to try and name an instrument that this man can't play. If you were wondering where it all started, it was with Kark's unyielding passion for music, and his inability to take no for an answer. Since late childhood, he has played in bands all over the world, serving single handedly as the adhesive of the group, and although he might think he's the best thing since sliced bread, who could possibly disagree. When was the last time you saw sliced bread self-producing a concept album in its bedroom? Having said that, the real things that come naturally to Kark are patience, humility, and a great desire to share his gift with the world - that is, when he isn't soloing beyond comprehension on ANY instrument you give him. He tends to focus on shredding the keys, guitar and bass, alto sax and trumpet, and when it’s required of him he can hold a dece backing vocal. He is responsible for the band reaching this far, and he will continue to be responsible for our journey to the top. We owe it all to the man who never loses his positivity and is always spreading the music. Kark is ALWAYS ready for the next challenge, and he pushes us to be too, as the heart, lungs, spine and balls of any band should.
Okay ladies, this is your moment. Joey DiPinto, THE Quadzilla himself, CEO of the k7 rhythm department, and founder of the whole operation. Don't let Joey's devilish good looks deceive you, his sinister way around the drum kit will leave you cast under his spell before you know it. You won't even see it coming. Joey's strong sense of rhythm allows the music to be tight yet free, and his versatile ability to play in any style fosters the band's creativity. Off the ice, Joey is a gentleman, the kind of dude that'll make sure he has done everything possible to accommodate you as a guest. In Joey's presence you'll always find yourself with a drink in your hand, a smile on your face, and a groove in your heart.
Now go on and indulge yourselves in the musical journey that we present to you, "Dressed In Rags".
Keep it real out there, and don't get too crazy.
